Finding Success in the Board Agenda

I have the opportunity to attend a seminar by one of my favorite speakers this fall. Bob Harris will be in Helena on October 15 presenting a session to association board members on governance. It reminded me of all the great resources on his website that he makes available to help boards and management teams succeed.
One area he addresses that I think all board members could find helpful is the meeting agenda. His articles on Creating the Board Agenda and The Well-Dressed Board Agenda offer valuable insight. The agenda is a key to successful and strategic board meetings; and yet, it may be the meeting item that gets the least attention or sees the least change. Is yours built as a “we’ve always had it that way” style? Or, is it something that each new board chair puts thought and planning into?
Bob’s articles give some great tips on putting more important discussions first, keeping the meetings strategic, the benefits of using a consent agenda, and more. I hope you take the time to review them and explore his website for more information that you can use. Consider him a valuable resource who is focused on your success.
And, if you have an interest in his Oct. 15 workshop, let me know!
